The Opening ceremony of the Indian Corner of the library, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo

The Opening ceremony of the Indian Corner of the library at the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo was held on 5th October 2023. The event commenced with a welcoming address from Prof . Pathirgae Kamal. Perera, the Dean of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine. Senior Professor (Chair) H.D Karunarathne, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo graced the event as the chief guest. The guest of honor at the event was Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, Deputy high commissioner of India. The event was attended by Mr. K.A.S Edward, Register, University of Colombo, Mrs. Sajeewani D. Somaratne, Acting Librarian, University of Colombo, Academic staff members, Administrative staff members, and Students of the Faculty. Over 130 books have been donated by the High Commission of India for the Indian corner of the library. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by  Mrs. P.M. Ayomi Senior Assistant Librarian.

A set of Unani Medicine books donated by the Ministry of Health

A set of Unani Medicine books donated by the Ministry of Health to the Library and the Department of Unani Pharmacology of the FIM, University of Colombo. The books were received by Prof. Kamal Perera, Dean, FIM, University of Colombo, on November 30, 2023.

Ola Leaves

The Ola Leaf collection contains more than 500 Ola Leaf manuscripts. All users of the library are entitled to this service on written request. A separate database has been prepared in respect of Ola leaf Manuscripts for the convenience of readers. The library staff members are engaged in the project on the preservation of Ola leaf manuscripts.

Periodical and Theses Collections at FIM - Library

Periodicals and magazines containing scholarly information on medicine in periodical Section. Academic journals, Conference Proceedings, Research Reports, Past papers, Commission Reports, Acts and various government and non – government publications are comprised in this collection. Theses and dissertations submitted for MPhil, MSc., MLS, MD and PhD degrees by the academic staff members of both sections in Ayurveda and Unani of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine and also Postgraduate students.
